Celebrating Earth Day in Gresham

Good afternoon everyone!!!! I am hoping that you were all able to go outside and enjoy some of that wonderful sunshine that we had this last week. It is that wonderful time of year when I start buying flowers to plant and cleaning out closets.

If you are like me and you are storing all those wonderful little planting containers and need a place to get rid of them I have just the place! This Saturday April 23rd, Gresham Oregon is celebrating Earth Day 2011. You can bring lots of items in for free recycling at the Gresham City Hall Parking Lot – 1333 N.W. Eastman Parkway, Gresham Oregon.

Here are a few of the items that you can bring in.
Rigid Plastics
Styrofoam
Paper Shredding
Fluorescent Tubes and Lights
Cell Phone
s

There are a few items that they are not accepting such as electronics or batteries. If you need to recycle
TVs, computers and monitors can be recycled for free year-round at two recycling sites in Gresham.

Most household batteries are too small to be collected with other recyclables in the blue cart. These recyclables go through a sorting process at a material recovery facility, where batteries would get lost.

You do not have to put batteries in the trash. Metro has two household hazardous waste facilities open six days a week for drop-off, and Metro also holds household hazardous waste collection events all over the tri-county area. For more information visit Metro Recycling or their Find a Recycler.
