Dog Days of Summer

With the weather turning up the heat in the next couple of days, many of of most vulnerable neighbors might need help staying cool.

That is why it’s important to know where your local cooling center is located.

Local cooling centers typically have games, activities and a great place to simply cool off from the heat.

Multnomah County

NE Portland

These centers are for older residents (age 60 and older) or people with special needs. Extended hours are activated based on weather conditions. When the forecast calls for three or more days of 95 degree or greater temperatures, county and community partners evaluate the need for cooling centers.

Damascus Community Church at 14251 SE Rust Way is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30AM – 5PM, Saturday 8AM – noon during extreme temperatures (reaching 90 degrees).


Estacada Community Center at 200 SW Club House Drive, Estacada, OR 97023 is open to the public Monday- Friday 8:30AM – 4:30PM. For more information, call 503-630-7454.

Lake Oswego

Lake Oswego Adult Community Center at 505 G Avenue is open. The general public is welcome to come and stay cool. For more information, call 503-635-3758.

Molalla Adult Community Center at 315 Kennel Street, Molalla, OR 97038 is open to the public Monday-Friday 9AM – 4PM. For more information, call 503-829-4214.

Oregon City

Father’s Heart Street Ministries at 603 12th Street, Oregon City, OR 97045 will be open when temperatures reach 90 degrees. Closed Friday, July 31st. Call for weekend hours: 503-722-9780.


Sandy Senior Center at 38348 Pioneer Boulevard in Sandy, Oregon is open to the public, Monday-Friday, 8:30AM – 5PM. For more information, call 503-668-5569.


Winfield Village at 8170 SW Vlahos Drive in Wilsonville is open every day, 10AM – 5PM, during extreme temperatures with water and snacks available. For more information, call 503-682-0653.

Wilsonville Public Library at 8200 SW Wilsonville Road will be open as a cooling center until 9PM if the temperature reaches 100 degrees. For more information, call 503-682-2744.
